Venetian Mask Colombina with half Butterfly and Stick
The ancient mask of the Colombina, which covers only the part of the eyes, is enriched with an handle and golden metal applications that represent a butterfly wing surrounded by rhinestone expertly applied one by one by expert hands. Was used by Venetian noblewomen to participate in lavish parties without being recognized thus increasing the mystery and the charm.

Today we received another “treasure” from LA GIOIA. This was a mask that I bought for my wife as an early Valentines Day gift; an ancient mask of the Colombina. Each time I look at these masks in our home it brings me back to the walks from San Marco, thru Castello to the Rialto and beyond. I urge those that may visit Venice to wall down Salizada S. Lio and seek out LA GIOIA. For these masks will forever hold memories from your visits. Along the way you will find wonderful café’s, restaurants and bacari – enjoy the Cicchetti!
